In which century did skull jewelery come in trend


In the ancient times the empires of the Aztecs and the Egyptians considered skull jewelry as their culture and it was their tradition to wear it. Members of these civilizations used to wear skull rings to show power and strength, especially men. They also used to show that how powerful their dynasty is and how much control they have over people. Mens jewelery with skull used to display a very important message that they believed it was a sign of death and rebirth.
The skull jewelery also showed that they believed in mortality therefore the skulls on the mens jewelry is mainly symbol of death day. Half skull rings were also worn in their civilization which advertised their profession and strength. These original rings were made up of silver objects and usually it had half skull which helped the members to hide the skull when in the company of polite people. When they were in the company of strong rivals they used to reposition their skull rings to show their power.
In the 15th Century, the generations began to adore this skull jewelery and it reminded them of mortality that is why they used to call it “Memento Mori.” After that century Queen Victoria thought of an idea and started the fashion of such jewelries which reminded people of their dead ones. In the 1960’s Mens jewelery were created on hard rock which displayed royalty and it was an expensive rock in those days.
