The importance of L methylfolate

The l methylfolate is a derivative of folate. It can be used as a medical food when ingested raw. Medical foods are foods formulated especially for the dietetic management of diseases with a typical nutritional requirement that can’t be satisfied by regular diet. LMF is the major organically active form of folate. It is used at our cellular level for the reproduction of DNA, cysteine cycle & to regulate homocysteine. It is proposed that Levomefolic acid can be used in the curing of cardiovascular ailment and radical cancers like colorectal and breast. Methyl gotten from methylfolate is also required during the period of fertilization of the egg in the human body, to the development of our heart, brain & other organs even to the actual birth and all through our lifespan. All cells in our body need methyl group to produce their DNA, fix DNA damage and regulate the utilization of the DNA. Our nerve cell needs methyl to produce synapses (this is what connect the never cells) and for myelin insulation (this speeds the conduction of the electric signals within the nerve cells). LMF is a major nutrient not only for the brain health but also for the total health & wellbeing likewise.
Since folate is vitamin B, it is soluble in water. The issue here is that, for some individual having gene mutation that affects the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase enzyme – MTHFR (this is both an enzyme and a gene found in our body, it helps convert folic acid to l methylfolate which is the active form of folate), these set of individuals their bodies are incapable of converting folic acid into methylfolate. For such, it is important they do not take folic acid, but LMF so as to avoid the need to transform the folate. If such people take folic acid, they will end up having methylfolate and unmetabolized folic acid contending for attention in the body. This has been traced to immune disorder and a lot of other health ailments.
