These days,
lots of kitchen utensils have been introduced to make the cooking process to be
done in an easy and simple way which was once a complex and time consuming
thing. One such kitchen utensil which is used to cook, sterilize and preserve
low acid foods for longer time which can be used in future is known as pressure canner.
What is pressure canner?
A pressure
canners is a device which is also known as pressure cooker that helps to cook
in a short time but canners are also used for preserving the foods. These are
used for large amount of food to be prepared. When you are preferring to cook
soups or stews, then cooking it in canner will make the process to be easier as
canners are the best utensil for cooking such long process dishes.
These
canners consists of a steel or aluminum pot which can be closed with a locking
lid that makes the utensil airtight sealed and vent cover locked. The lid
locking mechanism is used as a safety mechanism to prevent the lid from opening
when boiling under high pressure as it might explode if the lid is little bit
open too.
How pressure canners are used?
Usually
pressure canners are used for preserving and canning of foods which need to be
heated often at high temperature which can be achieved by creating a steam with
pressure so that the contents in the canners will be safely sealed like air
tight vessels or glass containers. These are also knowns as canning jars which
is used for filling food contents and stored in the metal rack for future use.
Pressure canners allow nutrients and flavors to be retained and higher
temperatures to be achieved with the steam in order to eliminate potential
bacterial dangers.
