The 46-year-old experienced racecar
driver, mike wainwright, has been racing for eight and a half
years. Not only is he a Race Team Owner, but he is also a Businessman, World
Endurance Championship Driver, and Gulf Enthusiast. He claims that he has been
in love with cars since his childhood. In his early 20s, when he started racing
Go-Karts just for fun, he got interested in racing. This enthusiasm steered him
toward officially becoming a racecar driver and he had his first race at Dubai
24hrs.
Formation of Wainwright’s Racing
Team:
Wainwright and Roald Goethe formed
a racing team in 2011 to qualify for Le Mans. It is called the gulf racing.
The reason for its formation was that Mike and Roald, previously, were drivers
in other teams and genuinely believed that if they formed a team of their own,
they could do something unique amongst themselves. Mike believed that if he had
a team of his own, he could implement his ideas rather than following someone.
As of now, Roald operates his racing team ROFGO only and has no association
with the gulf.
Mike’s best race in his career:
2015 was a historic year for Mike
and his teammates. Due to his impressive performance across five races, he
strengthened the name of his team in the world of racing. Mike and his
colleague Adam Carroll earned 56 points in the 2015 European Le Man Series, in
the GTE class. Mike wainwright secured his first win that year.
One of his races out of five races was remarkable. Overall, his team stood
fourth in the series.
Current updates on Mike’s racing
career:
In 2019, Mike’s racing score is
1380.66, which was comparatively much lower when he first started racing. Mike
has had a slight speed bump in his career over the past few years, which he
admits is because of his business, spending much time with the family and not
getting enough time to test drive as much as his competitors. He is fighting
against his lack of attention and lack of preparation in the current races.
Mike tries to develop a family-like feeling in his racing team but if he hopes
for a championship, he needs to be conscientious and strict with his teammates,
to ensure that all of them are practicing hard and will perform well in the
race. Mike drives a porsche 911 rsr, which is a
budget racing car with medium capabilities. Even though his car could prove to
be his enemy, but his ally is his knowledge of the fastest lines on the race
track. If Mike is serious about his racing career, he should put more time into
his company and practice more efficiently.
